Tidal is one of the leading music streaming platforms in the world, which finfrom the beginning it aimed to stand out from its competitors with a higher quality of audio files. Jay-Z bought it in 2015, trying to make it a competitive service by involving many other important artists, from Kanye West to Jack White to Rihanna to Daft Punk. In particular, over the years the service has focused heavily on exclusives, i.e. on records that were only available on Tidal: among these the main ones were聽Lemonade (still not available on other streaming platforms) and聽The Life of Pablo聽(which instead after a few weeks it also arrived elsewhere).Despite these efforts, Tidal has never reached anywhere near the numbers of Spotify and Apple Music, the two largest streaming services in the world, which have approximately 71 and 38 million users respectively.
