U.S. Customs and Border Protection will tempor stanley cup arily halt operations at the Lukeville, Arizona border crossing on Monday, amid an  increased levels of migrant encounters. According to border officials, the move is to address a surge in migrant encounters at the border  fueled by smugglers peddling disinformation to prey on vulnerable individuals,  and to redirect personnel to help border patrol take migrants into custody.Travelers can expect up to a four-hour detour, whether thats going into Mexico or coming into the United States and will have to use the Nogales or San Luis ports of entry. The port thats on the way to Rocky Point, Mexico, is going to be closed to both cars and pedestrians.Jaime Chamberlain, who is the chairman of the Nogales Santa Cruz Port Authority, says the closure of the Lukeville port is going to lead to longer lines at the Nogales ports. He says a lot of customs officers have already been taken away from inspections to help process people hoping to get asylum.CBP officials say the Tucson area, including Nogales, is already seeing the highest number of migrants coming into the country. By the time its fully implemented in 2035, the board estimates at least 20% of the 1.2 million trucks on the road would run on electricity.Over a hundred people across the state and nation called into the California Air Resources Board   meeting Thursday to testify on the measure ahead of an expected vote in the afternoon. Dozens said their neighborhoods were choking on air pollution from diesel fuel, particularly threatening the lung health of poor and minority communities, which has gained more prominence amid a respiratory virus pandemic.Supporters included environmental agencies from eight states in the Northeast, from New York to Maine, whose officials said it would create a road map for reducing emissions on trucking routes and propel the market toward electrification. It   the only way we think we can make significant progress on the most stubborn air pollution problems, said Mary Nichols, chair of the California Air Resources Board. Kvpf Forestry Worker Charged in Colorado Wildfire
CARSON CITY, Nev. 鈥?Small Nevada 鈥?population 3 million 鈥?became one of the first four states in the presidential nominating process thanks to an effort a decade ago to add more diversity to the early voting calendar.Nevada is now a frequent stop for candidates in both parties, though not nearly as popular as Iowa and New Hampshire. Here   how the Nevada caucuses work and  stanley cup a little history about the event, which happens for Democrats on Saturday and for Republicans on Feb. 23.HOW IT STARTEDEleven states applied to the Democratic National Committee in 2006 for early-state status. Nevada   delegation pitched the state as a reflection of the cou stanley cup ntry   changing population and it sure didn ;t hurt that Harry Reid, the highest-ranking Democratic senator, lobbied for his home state.Ultimately, Nevada and South Carolina won out over Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, West Virginia and Hawaii. We ;re now having a caucus here on Saturday in a state that   representative of what America is, Reid said.More representative than mostly white Iowa and New Hampshire, for sure, but not spot on with the nation. About one-quarter of Nevada   population is Hispanic, and one-quarter of South Carolina   is black. The U.S. population is less diverse: 12.4 percent black, 17.4 percen stanley cup t Hispanic, 8.2 percent Asian or other minorities, and 62 percent non-Hispanic white.Nevada is a swing state, w Vqpb Supreme Court halts census in latest twist of 2020 count
ST. LOUIS 鈥?In 2022, the Biden administration worked with Congress to pass the most comprehensive gun reforms in nearly 30 years, offering hope for gun safety advocates across the nation. But those efforts will likely have little effect in Missouri, a state with some of the most lax gun laws in the nation, and a virtual statewide ban on enforcing any federal gun laws. The ban comes in the form of the Second Amendment Preservation Act [SAPA] 鈥?a law designed to invalidate any federal regulation of guns or ammunition yeezy  in the state. The act, which Gov. Parson signed at a salomon  gun shop in June of 2021, states that any gun law that violates a citizens Second Amendment rights, by Missouris standards, cannot be enforced, essentially invalidating federal authority to regulate guns.Any public officer or state or local employee who enforces a federal gun law now faces a possible civil penalty of $50,000.The measure was met with a lawsuit almost immediately from St. Louis City, St. Louis County and Jackson County. In February of 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice sued the state in an attempt to block the law from being enforced. A state cannot simply declare federal laws invalid,  Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton, head of the Justice Departments Civil Division, said in a release announcing the suit.  This act makes enforcement of federal firearms laws difficult and strains the importan stanley cup t law enforcement partnerships that help keep violent criminals off the street.

In November, the unemployment rate fell from 4.9 percent to 4.6 percent  but for the wrong reasons. Huh Let me explain. While the U.S. economy added 178,000 job stanley cup s in November, that didnt offset the 226,000 people leaving the labor force. The labor force is made up of those looking for work  the unemployed  and the employed. And when people give up looking for work  often because they dont think there are any jobs available for them  or retire, the labor force decreases. As a result, the unemployment rate drops. We still see a lot of discouraged workers,  said Aparna Mathur, an economist at the conservative American Enterprise Institute.  A lot of workers probably have part-time jobs that they are not happy with, and those are not turning into full-time jobs, so they are dropping o stanley cup ut [of the labor force]. While a drop in the unemployment rate is often a positive sign, it appears to be largely due to a fall in labor force participation.mdash; Elise Gould  @eliselgould  December 2, 2016Wages were a sore spot as well.  President Donald Trump launched the next salvo in his widening war on Chinese trade abuses, this time taking aim at China s unfair seizure of US intellectual property.Trump  stanley cup on Thursday directed the US trade representative to level tariffs on about $50 billion worth of Chinese imports following a seven-month investigation into the intelle stanley nz ctual property theft, which has been a longstanding point of contention in US-China trade relations. We have a tremendous intellectual property theft problem,  Trump said.  It s goi stanley taza ng to make us a much stronger, much richer nation. The move, which comes on the heels of the administration s steel and aluminum tariffs that also took aim at China, has already been met with threats of retaliation from China and is heightening concerns of a global trade war that could destabilize the global economy -- fears the Trump administration has repeatedly brushed off.Trump on Thursday signed a memorandum announcing the trade actions, invoking Section 301 of the 1974 Trade Act, which formed the basis for the administration s investigation. Before signing the measure, Trump lamented the US  multi-hundred billion dollar trade deficit with China and said the action would be  the first of many.
