 Thursday, Jun 11 2009Consumer Reports Reader Survey Ranks Top PPOs, HMOs Based on SatisfactionThe Personal Choice plan offered by Pennsylvania-based Independence Blue Cross and the Kaiser Permanente HMO that operates in Oregon and Washington ranked as the top PPO and HMO, respectively, in a new Consumer Reports national survey of member satisfaction, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.  The survey, published in the September 2005 issue of the magazine, ranks 41 PPOs and 35 HMOs based on answers to a questionnaire completed by 35,000 readers between May 2003 and April 2004.  Respondents rated all of the plans involved in the survey as satisfactory.  Joseph Frick, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross, said,  Our top rating is important because, in t adidas originals samba his increasingly competitive market, it shows that we have high-quality products that s adidas sambarose atisfy our members.   According to Micaela Brown, an analyst at HealthLeaders-InterStudy, the survey is important for smal af1 l-group and individual health plans because of strong competition for members.  However, Donato Vaccaro, lead researcher for the survey, cautioned that the report addresses only member satisfaction, not cost and clinical quality, which also factor into whether consumers enroll in health plans  Goldstein, Philadelphia Inquirer, 8/10 .  A summary of the survey is available online.This is part of the Morning Briefing, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations.Sign up for an email subscription.Recent M
